Abstract: Compactification plays a crucial role in connecting string (or M) theory to the four-dimensional spacetime we observe. However, solutions of the effective theory are not necessarily exact solutions of the full string theory. This is where consistent truncation comes in. In this talk, as required, I will first quickly introduce the background, including supergravity, Calabi-Yau threefold, compactification and consistent truncation. With these idea in mind, I will tell you the general way to find a consistent truncation using G-structure and present our results from 11d/IIA/IIB supergravity to 4d N=2 pure supergravity. Finally, I will tell you how to promote a pure bosonic embedding Ansatz to the full fermionic level.
